INNOCAT to set new standard for eco-innovative vending machines

The INNOCAT Procurement of Eco-Innovative Catering Project aims to bring together public and private buyers to publish a series of tenders for eco-innovative catering products, services and solutions.


New public procurement rules published in the OJEU

On 28 March 2014, three new EU public procurement Directives were published in the Official Journal of the European Union (the New Public Procurement Directives). - Member States must implement the New Public Procurement Directives by 18 April 2016. - The New Public Procurement Directives codify existing case-law of the European Court of Justice in the field of public procurement, and include new provisions aimed at making public procurement more efficient and strategically orientated to the needs of contracting authorities.


Experience Exchange provides chance to learn from advanced organisations

Procurers from across Europe are invited to apply for the PPI Platform Experience Exchange, which will see procurers from less experienced organisations travel to advanced organisations to gain a more in-depth understanding of innovative procurement processes. As well as developing skills on PPI and PCP by learning from others, participants will also experience new ways of thinking about problems and solutions. Additionally, participants will get the chance to see PPI and PCP in action through field visits.


Project INNOCAT is launched

ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability recently launched the INNOCAT - Procurement of Eco-innovative Catering, project. We are currently setting up a project Interest Group to follow our activities, and maybe get involved more directly. New EU rules on public procurement and concession contracts

New EU rules on public procurement and concession contracts approved by Parliament on Wednesday will ensure better quality and value for money when public authorities buy or lease works, goods or services. They will also make it easier for small and medium-sized firms to bid and include tougher provisions on subcontracting.


INNOCAT invites organisations to join eco-catering buyers groups

Public and private organisations looking for ways to reduce the environmental impact of their catering are invited to join the INNOCAT project Buyers Groups. The groups will issue tenders for the procurement of innovative and environmentally friendly catering solutions, and will be particularly useful to organisations whose catering contract is up for review. Members are open to get involved in the tendering process according to their interests and needs, whether it be collaborating on market research for innovative eco-solutions, developing specifications and tender documents, or jointly publishing tenders.


EPA Proposes New Guidelines for Greener Federal Purchases

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing draft guidelines that will help the federal government buy greener and safer products. In response to broad stakeholder interest, EPA is seeking public input on these draft guidelines and a potential approach to assessing non-governmental environmental standards and ecolabels already in the marketplace.


Discuss and connect with peers on sustainable construction

Since September, the online forum group on sustainable construction is being guided by the work done through the European iNSPiRE project.


Launch of the HAPPI Platform

Healthy Ageing Public Procurement of Innovations (HAPPI), a project supported by the European Commission, aims at linking European health public procurers to work cooperatively to detect and purchase innovative and sustainable solutions for prolonging quality of life.
